 Title: Spectrum opus 1

Spectrum opus 1 is an abstract, interactive light object, designed and produced by Deborah Apol in 2020.

In this artwork several layers of colored photographic filters are combined with white satin acrylic sheets.

On the surface the white satin sheets are divided by vertical colored and fluorescent rods, what makes the work interesting to look at from different angles.

By transmission of artificial light through these layers, the full color spectrum can be created by one click on a remote control.

Also the brightness of the light and colors can be controlled.

The color palette can be as mystic as the moon, glow like Northern Lights or be warm as the evening sun.

This adjustable quality makes Spectrum easy to fit in various interiors.

The tension in this artwork lies in the contrast between the softness of the satin surfaces and the clean contour of the staffs.

This light-object is handmade, unique and created by Deborah in her studio at the former factory Bols at the Rozengracht in Amsterdam.

Spectrum opus 1 has a following up in Spectrum opus 2, twice as large and with a slightly different color palette.
